Using a special pointer

Do your students have trouble following along while you read to them? One volunteer suggested making a special "pointer" that the students can use to follow along while you are reading. The pointers can be made from a feather attached to a pencil, from something sparkly or fuzzy... any type of novelty item that the students can use to follow the words while you are reading to them.

Based on your experience, where do you suggest volunteers store the pointer? In the classroom or in their binders?

Great question! Based on my experience, they should store it in their binders because children are always getting distracted with the die in the bag!
