Using a special pointer

Do your students have trouble following along while you read to them? One volunteer suggested making a special "pointer" that the students can use to follow along while you are reading. The pointers can be made from a feather attached to a pencil, from something sparkly or fuzzy... any type of novelty item that the students can use to follow the words while you are reading to them.
